Hi Steve,
I really liked your PV2 et.al. but I was wondering if you had any more pictures of the SS 4 blimp made by David Denchfield. Was it 1/72 scale? I'd appreciate any info you have on it.
Cheers,
Joel

The PV2s arent quite in a completed state, they dont have any control wires, and one is missing the serial number.
Cosford went very well, although I had to clear the car of snow before we set off. The show was so popular the museum was turning people away at one point, and telling them to come back later as the car parks were full.We had a fairly continuous stream of people by, and I handed out lots of GWICC business cards so hopefully the site will get a lot of new visitors, even if they dont join the list.
The GWICC tables were next to Janets South Atlantic SIG tables. On her display ( which won best in show) was a Spi**ire in Falklands Islands presentation markings, as the islanders donated enough money to buy 10 Spi**ires during WW2. This aircraft, Falklands Islands II, was flown by the guy that built the SS4 blimp in the middle of the GWICC display, so Janet would tell the story to her visitors and send them on to me, or I would tell the story and send my visitors on to her. This aircraft gave the pilot a red mark in his log book, as he broke one undercarriage leg off landing in rough weather. His name is David Denchfield, hes not on the list, as he doesnt have a computer, but hes a proficient modeller, and the blimp is an eye-catcher. When I took the blimp back to him last week he showed me some lozenge fabric that came off the spars of the LVG C.VI at Shuttleworth when it was refurbished. The rest of the models on the table were mine and Hugh Beyts, roughly half
and half.
I did have one guy stop and chat for a long time, and hes now trying to find me a Sopwith Schneider to convert to a PV1.
On one of the dealers tables opposite us there was a framed piece of fabric from a DH4.

You try handpainting an arrow through all those struts and youll be wobbly too :)
In those days I assembled a model, and then painted it.
Warren, I dont build that many models, I just photograph a lot at once.
regards
Steve

Hi Steve
It's nice to see the PV2's in a completed state, and very nice they look
too. Must get mine started.
I was interested to see a completed Maquette DH9a (and a well made DH9a
at that). That's one kit I regreted spending hard earned cash on and it
currently resides in the 'probably will never be built' pile. Especially
as CMR have a DH9a listed for release this year.
How did you get on at Cosford? Who exhibited on the GWICC table with
you? I'm sorry I haven't seen those photos yet as the company is
currently blocking hobby sites between 8am & 5pm.
Regards
Dave
