[WWI] Help needed re scale depiction of wing ribs

Hi All,
Why can't you just scribe ribs with a set square and a sharp scalpel blade? One swipe is sometimes sufficient to indicate the ribs on small scales but a double line can also be used to show the rib tapes. As long as one is using styrene plastic it should work even on larger scales. Harry Woodman suggests it in his book Scale Model Aircraft in Plastic Card, I quote;
"After the camber has been formed the wing ribs can be made from sprue as shown, the tapes on the under surface being lightly "scribed" with a razor blade. (my quotes) "(see Harry's book on the web).
I also describe the method in IM November 2003 in the Short 184 article. It's soooo simple.

<<I used paint for the rib detail on my Bristol M1.C. I masked off each rib and brush painted a couple of coats, then a light sanding. Decal strips work well for rib detail as well. Mr. Surfacer or JB Weld would also work.>>
