Hi all
Are there any experts on WW1 engines out there?
Here's my problem. On page 8 of windsock data file no.111 on the Caproni
Ca.4 there are 3 photos of a Ca.4 'with Caproni bombing machine' written
around the nose. The captions state that this is a Fiat (A12) powered
aircraft, but if you look carefully at the three photos it can clearly
be seen that each engine (or at least the two outer engines) has 12
exhausts, six coming from each side.
Now this suggests to me that they are not actually Fiat A12 engines but
actually a 12 cylinder engine of some type. Can anybody shed any light
on this? Could it be a Liberty engine?
Regards
Dave
