[WWI] Help needed re scale depiction of wing ribs

Hi,
I liked your spread, Jim.
Very well researched and, for me at least, informative and inspiring.
I'm wondering if there would be another material that you could use for the rib
tapes that wouldn't give you as much trouble as styrene.
Would tissue paper be too thin and difficult to work with? obviously you
wouldn't be able to sand it after its on.
What about masking the area each side of the rib cap and laying down a layer of
CA and painting over it? too tedious?
Just thoughts.
