[WWI] BBC Report on Red Baron Premiere

Hi Warren

Point taken, but by my reckoning anybody who worked in those underwater
coffins were heroes in their own right and therefore QED it's a German
film about German Heroes (and for my next trick 'I'll prove that black
is white and get knocked over at the next Zebra crossing'!!!).

With regards to the Red Baron, at the end of day the whole point of a
movie is to be entertaining (no matter what else movie maker may tell
you in order to give there work a higher purpose), and as such you tend
to expect the movie to be 'grossly fictionalised', and I for one have no
real problem with this. Especially if it inspires interest in the era.

Regards

Dave

" Wasn't Das Boot a German film about German War Heros? "

Dave, not necessarily. "Das Boot" was an eight hour miniseries adapted
from a novel written by a journalist (not a vet) who went out on a
submarine once. Personally, I like it, and is seen as a great anti-war
film, but aren't most of them anit-war films? OTOH, the "Red Baron"
movie is a grossly fictionalized account about a real person who,
unfortunately, still holds soem people's imaginations for all the wrong
reasons.
