Hi Jim

This is an excuse; but a good one. Due to work, recent marriaghe and divorce I have moved around a lot. Most of my models I had built were to 1/72. These have been damaged and destroyed in my moves and are awaiting my return from Angola to repair them.

I changed to 1/48 a little while ago, and have a couple of kits on the go. When these are finally built (probably end of this year or early next year), this site will be somewhat inundated with model photographs for my gallery. I did bring with me an Alb DII, DH6 and Supermarine Air Yacht, but on my last trip home they were damaged beyond repair, so now I no longer bring my models with me, except maybe for the Armistice diorama, which I am still researching.

The DH6 I will need to resart, and will, like you, start an MSN group. I think a blog could be both interesting and will keep others informed on the progress.

She is to be finished in civilain colours, based on photographs of a post-war example that was used for joy0rides in and around Cape Town. I have also, subsequently, found pictures of an Avro 504K named Rhodesia and also used for similar purposes, so that might well be the next project after the DH6.

The plans for the DH6 that I need also to be checked asw I have managed to get permission to view the set of wings that are stored in South Africa, the only remains of this aircraft any-where in the world as far as I am aware, that will be December, my next trip home.

This project, due to work commitments, I think will take about three years, hopefully once my time here in Luanda is up I will be able to dedicate more time to her and she will be finished shortly after.

So that is my tail of woe.

Thank you very much. I went to look at your DH6 and couldn't even find a Douglas Anderson model gallery. I wanna see it, I wanna see it.

I think the credit for introducing us all to 1:16 scale really goes to Ken Foran. See:

FANTASTIC. Your 1/16th models are what inspired me to try that scale for my DH6.
