Steve, surely the airofoil is less important in RC as the power to weight ratio is much greater than the original. Therefore using a scale aerofoil should be fine

I take it that you are going for scale airfoils on this large Bristol. I am
curious at what point in size is it ok to use a scale airfoil.?

My budget or more precisely my lack of one, limits me to models about 48" WS
or less. Most of these do not use scale airfoils and I have heard several
comments to the effect that a small model flies better with a non-scale
airfoil.

Is it just that WWI airfoils were for the most part pretty thin and that on
small models there just isn't enough there for a good spar and possible
servos or is there an aerodyamic reason?

thx
