Where there rules!? A lot of thing confuse me a lot, especially why our
models where all on one table which was
what I thought to be the WW1 departement, yet there were other WW1, 30's and
civil stuff in all kinds of other places
too. Peter Plattner had a gorgeous Hortens '30s glider in the same class as
all the 1/48 WW2 monsters, that should
have been in the civil class with me and Hugh, lucky for us it wasn't
though!

Anyhow, it was a really nice time and I recommend attending if you ever get
the chance. And Telford will never be the worst place in England as long as
Wolverhampton exists.

I was through there on the milk train from Telford, I can only agree. I
missed the train I was supposed to be on,
and ended up on the next one which was delayed, so by Wolverhampton I was
getting seriously worried about
catching my flight home, I made it by the skin of my teeth. At Birmingham
New street I must have been looking
pretty confused because I approached a police women, wondering if I was
allowed to ask her how to get to
the airport, she looked rather amused and said "yes I can see you're lost,
and you can ask!", she was the nicest
police officer I've ever met!

Our GWICC display was magnificent, by far the best in the show, although the
racer SIG and the Brompton stand
were pretty good too. Nigels Zepellin was a stunner. It was great meeting
you all, I even understood quite a lot of
what Dave Fleming said, Shane's australian was a challenge, but his
grouchiness is over-rated!

>The Brampton stand in fact took the cup for best club display, and the Between
The Wars SIG (run by a Brampton member) took the Best SIG display cup. I have
bunch of photos of the GWICC table and the listees meeting which I will get up
on the internet somewhere soon

The models were flabbergasting, Jim Baumann won best in show with an OT
model, SS Mauretania in full camouflage
with about 2000 people standing around the decks, it was unbelievable. One
of the Greek contingent had a 1/48
scratchbuilt Felixstowe, I think it was the same guy as built that
Manchester in 2004, the judges had a difficult job
but finally made a diplomatic split of the prizes with Mareks friend Slava
who had done an amazing DH2.
