Greetings,
I wanted to introduce myself as I am new to the WWI mailing list
although, I have been visiting the WWI Modeling web page for years. My
name is Scott Janney and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been
constructing plastic kits since the mid 60’s and cut my teeth on the old
Revell Aces 3 in 1 kits amongst many others. As my Father is retired
USAAF/USAF, I obviously gravitated more towards aircraft kits of a
military nature (as a side note, I was born while my Father was at Beer
Call and was very close to being named Manfred until my Mother
intervened… ).
During the late 70’s, Eighties and early 90’s I became interested in
Formula 1 and as such spent most of that time modeling the Tamiya 1/20
scale F-1 kits (also, I thought I had constructed every Revell and
Airfix WWI kit that was available…. Twice) These kits were very
enjoyable to build with an exceptional level of detail. I still have a
few that are awaiting construction.
Then one day I was in my local hobby shop and stumbled across the Toko
Pfalz DXII.
I had no idea that these kits existed and after doing a little research
and going on line at The Squadron I was back to modeling WWI pretty much
exclusively.
I consider myself kind of a hacker and certainly don’t put out a product
like I have seen on the WWI web site (I am truly amazed at what some of
you have done!). I build pretty much OOB but have been experimenting
more and more (Nie 27 from a Revell 17c… don’t think I want to do that
one again…). I have been acquiring more and more aftermarket
accessories from Aeroclub, Rosemont and Part amongst others. I rig with
stretched sprue but have trouble controlling the CA (Damn! I’m getting
to be a shaky SOB!) My models tend to get handled a lot so in general I
usually only rig the bracing wires.
I am unfamiliar with board etiquette and/or guidelines but, I have tried
to include a picture of one of my last builds. I am a little unsure if
it will come through though.

I hope to get some pictures together soon (I will have to re-take quite
a few that were photographed inside with poor lighting) and forward them
on to the Gallery section.
I look forward to corresponding with fellow modelers with like
interests. I’m sure I will have many questions but am almost positive I
will be able to fine the answers in this forum.

Take care
Scott
