Although I have always had the impression that this list is dedicated 
to aircraft and related subjects, I just re-read the FAQ info which 
states that ships are fair game, so I have been wrong.  So until the 
"mission statement" changes, it appears that nobody even has to ask 
if subjects other than aircraft are welcome here.

I have also developed a major interest in the ships of the 
era.  Indeed my recent purchases are almost all nautical.  State of 
the hobby seems to be a increasing availability of high quality resin 
kits in 1/700.  There are helpful and courteous ship modelers out 
there just like the a/c people on this list.  There are two sites 
which I visit almost daily:
