First time I know of that. "Offset" camouflage! What I did read is that some 
early Tauben were covered in what was called "balloon fabric" which was a 
rubberized cloth, greyish in colour and very prone to catch dust and grime, 
giving the airframe an untidy appearance. I guess it must have been sticky?
