Didn't the French base their inter-war submarine aircraft on German examples? I have a picture of one that actually ended up in England during the Second World War, and this looks remarkably similar to a W.29, or at least was inspired by it.
On a similar note, the British tried something similar in 1916; the E.22 carried two Sopwith Schneider seaplanes. The idea being to intercept Zepplins over the North Sea. However, as these aircraft were carried externally, the submarine couldn't dive, so this seems a rather flawed idea.

While The W 20 might be described as frail the LFG V19 would best be called ungainly.
Not one of LFGs finer moments in design

Hi Brian,
There was an LFG Roland airplane intended for use from submarines, it was a small low wing monoplane. Is there any info on it in that magazine?
