no, French aluminum was *#\)@#^. Funny, Toelle actually explains the 
difference in appearance. French stuff was suspended in a more viscous, 
slower drying bunch of glop and the particles had time to align themselves 
and looked more like what we think of as "silver paint". The Pfalz stuff was 
more grayish.
