Not at all. German squadron markings were meant for easy recognition in 
combat. And the aircraft were delivered from factory usually in standard 
camouflage patterns, or else in printed fabric. Printed fabric, besides, was 
probably adopted because it meant a lighter airframe than a 100% painted 
airplane, and much less man-hours to finish an aircraft.
