  I read a different story about MvR Albatros in Floyd Gibbon´s book on the red baron. The captured airman said at the night gathering something like only a woman may fly so striking painted a plane, and MvR replied "so, here is that woman" or so, and everyone laughed. In fact, it may have seen a joke from the British which MvR didn´t caught....
