Accurate colours have never bothered me; I'm only interested in realism. Watch for my Dolphin!

On the other hand, Hank Burden described the PC10 on
his S.E.5a as "green." All of which supports the
points made by contributors to this thread already: 
If the participants of the Great War had difficulty
characterising a color they saw for hours daily, any 
modeler faces real challenges in the search for the
absolute, authentic color - like a quest for the Holy
Grail, without the killer rabbit.

The important thing is that we continue to be
interested in these questions, and keep looking for
what we feel are plausible interpretations of the
actual colors, even in hardware stores. For me, this
is part of the real fun of the hobby!

That's a no-brainer. The authentic color is Revlon's
lacquer nail polish, #MvR 122 - "Rittmeister Coral
Blush." Next question?
