[WWI] 1/72 engine cylinders

Here's a couple of more ideas on doing correct looking cylinders on your 1/72 scale Nieuports.
1. A guy in Fine Scale Modeler scratchbuilt some Japanese Z@#$ engine a few years ago by using 2 sizes of discs punched out of sheets of .005 plastic card. Then glue them into stacks alternating small and larger circles until you get the correct height. With a closed cowl Nieuport 17 you will not even have to worry about doing the cylinder heads as this will never be seen inside the cowl. For a N. 11/16/21 you are on your own here!
2. Another method that I have read about is to use fine thread machine screws the proper width of the cylinder. Cut off the end with a Dremel motor tool and trim them to the correct legnth, then cut off the cylinders molded on the kit engine and super glue these ones on. The thread angle is so fine that it is almost impossible to see the angle on the finished model.
I have never tried either of these methods myself since the 1/48 sale Eduard engines look pretty good out of the box, especialy the new tool Nieuport 17 one with seperate intake pipes.
