[WWI] 1/35 or 1/32?

I always thought that 1/32 was close to 54mm. I never did understand the 1/35 scale... I lost the hand to my 54mm wwi german Stormtrooper and used a hand
from ICM's German soldiers. There was no perceptable difference in scale... However if you look at entire bodies you can see the difference.
