An update.

I primered the wings with Duplicolor Auto Primer and then went after them with 1500 & 2000 grit, being careful to not take off 
the ribs (the wing detail is really fine) ...  Much of the flaw was simply hidden by the primer, but I had to work at a few 
areas of oh-so subtle flaw to smooth them down ...

Looks like it is salvageable ...  once I figure out how many coats of CDL are needed to cover the red primer ...
