I have begun creating a list of references for my stash of Windsocks, the idea being that I can for exmple find references for profiles, plans and articles on say a SE5A, FE2 or RE8. Thats the theory anyway, I used to have a paper list like this but somewhere along the way I lost it in house moves. Not sure how long this will take but its fun going through the old Windsocks.

for January/February 1997 or ten years ago.

The articles were;

Sopwith Babies in Norway - great photos in this article.

The Concluding article and more photos of the Bat FK 22 Bantam by Jack Bruce... If I recall correctly in an earlier 1996 windsock there were plans for this aircraft too by Ian Stair.

A set of photos of a period Aviators Safety helmet

An article and photos of WWI German aircraft that went to Italy and were lost to time... There is a great photo of a Dornier Flying Boat in this article.

Dispatches from St Petersburg by Harry Woodman - German Aircraft that were abandoned in the Black Sea after 1918. Lots of Floatplane photos in this series of articles.

Ansaldo A1 Fighters in Polish Service (black and white profiles, pictures and colour profiles inside the last page

Inside the front cover there are colour photos of Argus AsII and Benz Engines

Model Reviews were
1/48 Blue Max DH2, Eduard Sopwith Triplane
1/72 Skybirds Albatros C.X, Pegasus Albatros DIII (I built one of these it was a nice model), HitKit Ansaldo A.1 Ballila (I bought one of these and its not such a nice model imho), Skybirds Aviatik C.III, Halberstadt DII DIII and DV (Oh someone please make a new injected one of these), A D&M DanePlane Nielsen & Winther Type Aa??
oh and lastly the Roseplane Sopwith Camel Lighter

From looking at the list of model reviews as much as we have lots of models now for wwi, there are still many aircraft we dont have mass produced injected plastic for. Pity Skybirds stopped producing resins they were very nice quality if I recall correctly and in the correct scale ;)

Happy New year eh, Ray
