Hi all,

I was asked a question about the participation of two Portuguese Bréguet
14 in the First Air Exhibition of Amsterdam that was held in Amsterdam
in July and August 1919. According to Rob Mulder
(http://www.europeanairlines.no/) who sent me this photo
http://modelismo-na.net//download.php?id=5895 "It was attended by
500,000 visitors and some 4,000 made a flight for f.40 per person (a
month salary for the average man)". "Thursday, 21 August 1919 the *two*
Breguets arrived from Paris and Brussels. The newspaper article did not
mention if they had started in Paris or came from Portugal"

I investigated a little: from Soltan & Davilla I could know that
Portugal acquired a total of 28 Bréguet 14 A2 in two batches; the first
of 16 aircraft being delivered in 1919 and the remaining 12 in 1921.
They were doped silver overall, and this makes me think that the two
aircraft at the exhibition went to Amsterdam before they came to
Portugal, as the aircraft in the photo is camouflaged. It makes sense;
Portugal also acquired a Br14 T limousine for a (failed) attempt to
break the Paris-Lisbon record by the same two aviators, Portela and
Maya, and this was by October 1919. I think Portela and Maya went to
Amsterdam in two Br14 A2 while waiting for the preparation of the
aircraft for the record.

My questions:

Is there any way to know the serial numbers of the aircraft sent to
Portugal? May some owner of "*Les escadrilles de l’aéronautique
militaire française Symbolique et histoire, 1912-1920" *take a look at
the index and look if there is some information on it? Eric? Any way to
know if Lello Portela had any link to any BR squadron? (the Portuguese
flag in triangle format is also in Portela's SPAD)

I'm trying to know the exact model (early or late wings) and the camo
pattern. Serial numbers would be great!

Thanks very much in advance!

Happy New Year to all!

Carlos
