I haven't kept track but must have now personally met between thirty to forty listees.
Last Wednesday, I had the enjoyable experience of meeting Aidrian Bridgeman-Sutton at
the San Diego Air & Space Museum where we spent a few pleasant hours discussing the
exhibits and aviation in general. Poor fellow, I feel guilty in having accepted his
generous offer to drive me back to my hotel. Neither of us really knew where it was. We made several forays at it. Only after I called my wife on her cell phone and she
went to the lobby and got the desk clerk on the phone, who talked us in, did we
arrive. By now I'm sure Aidrian knows I'm the obtuse, easily misguided person I
appear to be in my List correspondence.
I was very impressed by the 1911 Deperdussin and took several photos as the exhibit
placement allowed. I got some bottom shots of the hanging Nie.28 as previous photos
of it at the US Naval Aviation Museum were of it sitting on the floor. At least,
most of the hanging aircraft were not up in the rafters but low enough to easily photograph. Unfortunately, the Sopwith Pup replica was not on display.
All told, a very nice visit.
Mike
