Hmmm... as you imply, there's considerable disagreement.  I have read 
Donkeys. One book I do not recommend is Denis Winter's "Haig's Command" - 
full of personal insults and over-wrought adjectives.  I also read Winter's 
"Death's Men", which I thought was excellent.
