[WWI] Blue Max 1/48 Vickers FB5

Hi Michael,
I agree with Rick's statements, and have built several Blue Max kits over the years. They tend to have excellent surface detail and outline, but due to the short run nature require lots of sanding & fitment work - basic modeling skills in my opinion. There is much room for interior detail to be added with the wide open nacelle. Also assembling the booms is rather difficult and time consuming since they are built up of metal tubes & individual struts with no real locating pins or holes. But if you want to build a Vickers gunbus in 1/48 scale this is the only game in town! I would recommend it if you don't mind putting a little effort into it, it is not a Tamigawa kit that falls together!

Blue Max kits are generally what you make of them. Limited run, and sometimes need a lot of thinning and cleaning up of the flying surfaces. That being said this kit looks to be better than most previous efforts. If you don't mind a kit requiring some scratch building skills you should be ok. If you want Eduard quality, don't bother. JMHO,
Rick G.

Hey all,
I see that Squadron is having quite a sale on this kit and I wonder if anyone wants to weigh in on the quality of it. I am old to model building, but new to WWI, and have never purchased a Blue Max kit.
    Thoughts appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael
