That picture I attached to my previous message was too dark because I took it outdoors on my front porch and it had become dusk. I screwed up. But I attached it to show the curved paper backdrop. However, using software that comes with your camera you can fix the brightness, contrast, color and sharpness. Sometimes it's as easy as clicking on the 'Auto Fix' (or whatever) and the photo jumps from awful to great. Sometimes auto fix doesn't do well and you might have to adjust things manually. I'll bet your software is better than mine and auto fix may always work. Attached is that same photo after adjusting it.
Sometimes if I'm in a hurry, like the night before a contest, I will take a point and shoot with flash. Try it. Experiment.
