But take into account that WW1 era pilots usually retained their original uniforms and decorations during their duty on the air service. Andrew Mollo and Pierre Turner wrote and illustrated a most useful little book aptly named "Army Uniforms of World War I" that describes them at lenght.

An Austro-Hungarian Army officer is a good start. Watch out for anything with an "artifical brain", so was called the stiff kepi officers used in comparison with the soft headress of the troops.
