[WWI] Stoopid Ship Questions

I've been working on the Revell Emden, and a few questions have arisen. This is my first military ship model since I was a kid, but I am finding this project a nice change of pace and am looking forward to doing more subs and ships.
I've done some online and book research and gathered together a number of photos of Emden (There were a lot of photos of the wreck taken from many different angles, so that you could do a great diorama of that event-maybe someone has already)
Anyway, are the German naval colors assigned an approximate F.S. number anywhere? There is a color chart on the Tanner site, but it is from WW II, and I can't trust that it isn't faded or that my printer is doing it justice.
The Revell instructions say the boats were always white with wood interiors, but they don't look white in one of the wartime photos. Were they painted grey in 1914? Overall?
They also say to paint the anchors "steel", but wouldn't those have been painted as well?
Do brass propellers (ok, screws) stay brass in seawater, or do they corrode?
And finally, where can I get 3-rail PE railing in 1/350th?

                        Thanks for the help!

                                                                       J.R. Boye
