[WWI] Anhedral vs Negative Dihedral (was Re: Added:Nieuport 28 andmore!) (UNCLASSIFIED)

When I was in the Air Training Corps, many many years ago, I had an RAF officer 
tell me that this was dihedral:

\O/  (with the wing roots at the base of the fuselage with the tips higher)

and that this was anhedral:
\ /
  O  (with the wing roots at the top of the fuselage, and the tips higher, a la 
cessna 172)


Even though I was 14 years old I knew that was a lot of rubbish.  And I also 
knew why he was teaching cadets on a Friday night instead of being in charge of 
equipment that could hurt somebody.
