Probably, but anyway, don't subestimate the might of the French 
manufacturing network by WW1. Remember that they alone supplied to most of 
the allies, and their aircraft industry was one of the best if not THE best 
of the world by that time. If a part wasn't painted, for sure there was a 
reason behind it.
