Many have tried and many have failed including me. That is not to say it
can't be done however.
The brushless motors in CD/DVD drives and some hard drives are much
better choices but do require an add on brushless motor controller.
There has been much written on this subject on RcGroups, RcUniverse and
many other online forums as well as many personal web pages.
Bottom line however is just as Tom has already stated, depends on just
what you are trying to do.
Cheers, Graham in Embrun near Ottawa Canada.

Anything's possible, it's just a matter of how much or how little
performance you will get out of it.

Is it possible to make a R/C aircraft model using a brushless PC fan?
