I have done this a lot, and it works quite well. I usually put the 
plan down on the bench, covered with glass, and finally a layer of 
wax paper held down on the glass using a dusting of 3M77, then let a 
little CA droplet here and there hod the balsa structure down. 
Slipping a business card under the parts at the end is usually enough 
to pop them free.  One trick is to leave any strip stock long and 
glue the ends down. You can chop through them when done with a fresh 
single edge razor to free them up and get close to the final length.
