[WWI] Question, was Flyboys: Gotha Bomber Sequence

Lost a bet?  He appears to be filling a container from the rad...hot water 
bottle?  My question would be, why is he standing on the outboard side of 
the engine?  I doubt the pilot would appreciate it too much...unless it's 
his hot water bottle.
