[WWI] Question, was Flyboys: Gotha Bomber Sequence

He was pouring something into the front of the engine.  Could have  
been engine oil, but why only a quart.  It would have been more like  
gallons. The cooling system was a sealed system.  If it had a leak, a  
quart can of water wouldn't do much, maybe another 5 minutes of use,  
but it is only a movie, and it all adds to the drama.  They did get  
the in-flight servicing part right, I just would not have wanted that  
job.  In retrospect, any job would have had the same two options.   
You either made it back to base or you didn't.
