[WWI] Rigging

I have some old kits built 30yrs ago using stretched sprue for rigging
and
they are still holding up.
And they were glued with Elmers Glue. This was done before the days of
using
monofiliment.

Hi Tom
Robert and Joel are showing the way! Amazing work chaps.
I'm just being cautious with those thin wings. Although the vertical
tension components will cancel out the horizontal components are working
in the same direction and with so many wires my instinct is that all the
tension necessary for tautness could lead to difficulties such as
warping in future, hence my resolve to use elastic rigging when I build
a Taube.
I use monofilament when I can though as I love the functional aspect
that such rigging provides, plus so many models need it to stay in the
right shape. Before monofilament, post stretched sprue I used fishing
line and slow set epoxy;rigging was a tedious event! I have a few 30
year old models rigged this way that have stood the test of time,
though ot and silver! All my stretched sprue riggers have succumbed to
house moves and other tibulations along the way apart from one rebuild
that was rigged with elastic rigging due to its delicate nature.
Superglue revolutionised many things among them my attempts at rigging!
