I've hankered after building the Flashback kit ever since missing my
opportunity to buy one at a show and haven't seen one since. The rigging
fascinates me. For my money I reckon that smoked monofilament is going
to require too much tension on this particular airframe. Although it's
my normal choice for biplane rigging I resort to stuff called 'knitting
in elastic' for control runs and delicate structures. It stretches an
amazing amount with very little tension so looks taut but places little
strain on the airframe. It can be thinned by snapping and plucking
strands. Colour wise its bright white but a simple thin wash works
wonders. Possibly the same stuff that Aeroclub sell but I get mine from
the haberdashy counter at a local department store. Which reminds me of
Tony Woolett chatting up all the pretty sales assistants at the makeup
counters as he looked for products that would yield plastic tops for
spinners and engine cowlings. I'm not sure who was having the most fun!
