I grew up a few miles away from Ft. Meade, and remember climbing on that
little tank when I was a kid!

>One of the soldiers I was out here teaching had his promotion ceremony at
>the Ft. Meade museum. I had no idea Ft. Meade played a big role in the two
>great wars. Aside from a good number of WWII armour pieces, they had a
>PT-17 restored(but with the bullet scars left in place) and a Mark VIII
>tank.
>
>There was also a lot of WWI uniforms, weapons and other artifacts,
>including a 1914 Hotchkiss MG and a german tripod mounted MG which I can't
>recall the model.
>
>The Mark VIII had the hatches open so I got to peak inside and see the
>motor and crew cabin. Very cool. I'm still in awe about how big that
>thing was. And how small the PT-17 was.....
>
>Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera. I didn't know any of that stuff
>was there. But a few of the soldiers offered to take some good digital
>photos of the artifacts and send them to me. I will also make time to get
>back there next time I'm in the area and bring a camera this time.
>Hopefully I can get some photos on the website soon.
>
>I'll be on a plane to go back to Colorado tomorrow morning.
