Dear Listees,

I was quite surprised when I visited the IPMS Austria Model Show this day.
Only two WWI-aircraft models were displayed and an Albatros D.III OEFFAG was
announced to see there!?!

As I found out it was not the Albatros to see – but Koloman Mayrhofer gave a
lecture about his stunning Albatros replica project. In nearly 60 minutes he
tried to tell what he and his team have done during 10.000 hours of
crafting. He also showed some photos from the beginning to the actual
construction status. What a great and remarkable story.

He announced that the first Albatros will be finished in spring 2007 and
will then be displayed at the AVIATICUM (a museum in Wiener Neustadt – near
Vienna http://www.aviaticum.at/indexa.htm). He has choosen the Aviaticum
because he got one of his two original (!!) Austro-Daimler engines as a loan
from the City-Museum Wiener Neustadt. I´m quite lucky because this is my
hometown and I hope to get a bunch of pictures there. After that I can
finally start my own little albatros d.iii oef project in 1/48.

I took some pictures during Kolomans lecture at the IPMS Show – not the best
quality (because they were shown by beamer) - but interesting. The zipped
filesize is about 2,3 mb. If you are interested to get the file please drop
me a note with your email-address.

You can also find some nice pictures about kolomans project here:

Cheers from Austria
