I agree with the Grauchy Old Bugger. My models I build for myself. Some I have entered, haven't won much, but the models are for my enjoyment and as long as I am happy and proud of what I have produced, I will show it off. 
  Besides, the subject of what shade one should use for a particular scale, lighting etc is very subjective, and quite frankly should be left to personal taste.
