I have followed this thread with interest, and I think this has it
exactly. If I may make a parallel, look at English watercolour
painting. The paints are well able to represent the brilliance of
light in the landscape, but received wisdom is the "The Way" is as
flat as h*ll with pathetic saturation all over. Bottom line in both
cases is: do you produce work to please yourself or the judges. I am
VERY clear on this, the fact that I show something means I think its
ok by my standards (which, I hope, are always improving) and I don't
frankly give a da*n (substitute "R" or "M" as you please) what anyone
else thinks.
