I have some information, but you will have to wait until I get back home. I have a book on the history of various regiments and the Arditi are mentioned. The tool that the chap is holding looks like something for removing barbed wire from in front of the trenches that the advancing infantry have a 'safe' journey to the enemy trenches.
  I will be home next Tuesday.
