My local model club has done a couple of displays for the new England Air
museum at Bradley Field in Windsor Locks CT. All models were done in 1/48
scale, and are installed in glass display cases. The first one was a
display for the Tuskeegee Air men, which had a large number of WW2 aircraft.
The second display, that I was heavily involved in was the lafayette
Escadrille display, part of a larger exhibit including books, medals, and
other Lafayette memorabilia. The kits that we built were the Nieuport 11
(Lufbery's) Spad VII (Thaw's) Nieuport 28 (Lufbery's) Albatros D.III, Pfalz
D.III and Fokker DR.1. All kits were purchased by the museum, we built them
as a donation (did not realize that we could use them as a tax deduction).
I also did a 1/24 scale Nieuport 17 (Lufbery's) for a nomnal fee that
basically covered my materials, nowhere close to the time required unless I
was worth about $2.00 an hour!
