Hi all - long time listener, very rare poster.
But I was interested in the process vs product discussion
Certainly the process is fun - even secretly a source of pride and petty one-upmanship when we do so competitively.
But I still sit and look over my collection and get great satisfaction from the finished works. Next to the loss of my family and loved ones
I think losing my models would be the next worst thing!
I have a real connection with my models because in some way, they are a part of me.
There are things about the way I build my models that make them truely mine.
Lets face it - how many models built from the exact same kit, look exactly the same after they are finished?
I would suggest none!
I only build models that have a meaning in my life. I am a member of the Royal Australian Air Force (2 Squadron)
And I am building one of each type operatied by the Australian Fling Corps - the origins of my Squadron are traceable directly to the AFC
Our Battle Honor Board has names like Cobby and Watt and so my finished models provide a link to my military predecessors
that I wouldn't otherwise have.
The research process constitutes the greatest part of my modelling time - and I really hate it when I get it wrong !!!!
