Nigel explains about his airbrushing boycott:

It IS a hassle.  I hate it.  But it's like an ascetic discipline; I
airbrush to be a better human being.  It isn't working, but at least
I've got a nice finish on my models.

As for "nowhere to do it", why, do it in the living room... kitchen...
bedroom.  I've sprayed lacquers for years near an open flame and never
blown up once (well, doing that, anyway).  I've made the whole
neighborhood high on the fumes, which is impossible with Future, and the
bain drammage to my family has been minimal.  It sterilized the dog,
saving several hundred dollars.

And I never met a Brit who didn't have at least one garden shed....?
