Listers,
The Eduard June newsletter has announced that they are releasing a
1/48th Pfalz E.1. Surprised nobody here has noticed that one yet. They
have announced a "Weekend" line of kits, painting instructions on the box
top instead of boxart, one decal option, no p/e, etc. The first OT issue in
this line is the 1/48th Alb. D.III, and for $10.95 U.S. That seems like a
pretty darn good deal to me. (Hey Matt, did you see that they are doing an
La-7 dual combo!?)
I saw the 99 cent Pegasus offerings, and I may pick up a couple just to
get the decal option. I have some Pegasus kits that have been superseded by
better offerings, but decided to keep them because of the decals (as Shane
pointed out) and to use as experiments for new techniques, painting hulks,
etc.
Speaking of Pegasus, I read something that tickled me the other day. I
bought an old issue of Scale Models (June 1981) to get the Nieuport plans
contained therein. Aside from that, it is fun to read the ads and articles
to see where the hobby was 25 years ago. On one page there is an ad for
Badger that states "Chris Gannon is flying high on Badger!" The ad goes on
to state that Chris won the 13-16 age group at the Daily Mirror/Gloy Model
Competition, and that he won a Badger Voucher. Two years later he then won
the Badger Airbrush award with a scratch-built George Levy HB5 Flying Boat.
Boy, has Chris come a long way or what? The point? Maybe the next OT
winner of a particular class this year could become a manufacturer of OT
kits. I wonder if he already had the idea for Blue Max and Pegasus kits
then?

Warren
Still job-hunting
