Interesting course, Warren. I'm surprised that is even offered- it might
promote violence !
I would be surprised if the prof could teach you anything you didn't
already know.
Living in the San Francisco area, we are exposed to these politicians
playing God constantly- they just think the problems of the world can be
solved by removing rights.
This IS an OT subject since our beloved hobby is threatened along
with those manufacturers who support us.
The reasons we build models of WWI subjects are complex and vary
from modeler to modeler. The reasons wars begin are also complex, but a
large part of the blame can usually be attributed to simplifying the
motives of other nations- and denying that there are those in the world
who just want to kill and dominate others for no rational reason. How
many of those build detailed models of machines used in a conflict no one
now remembers ?
      I am a peace-loving, very non-aggressive person by nature. I am
simply fascinated by these machines and the stories of those who had to
use them. Those stories of heartache, loss and bravery- and stupidity-
teach one to avoid unnecessary conflict, but also to take on a real
threat before it is too late or to help a people so threatened.
I have never met a battle reenactor or modeler who was actually
aggressive. They are just trying to understand these tradgedies better
and make some sense of them. If only politicians had the same curiousity
about history they wouln't repeat it so often...

                                                 J.R. Boye ( who has a
fair percentage of German blood ... and English, French and Mexican )
