My compliments on your work, Edward, and I wish all success in  KC.
I was a little confused by the name "clay-kickers," though. I had always  
heard them referred to as "Sappers," having gone down into the "Saps." 
May I ask where you found the "clay-kickers" term?

Here's a link  to two photos of a diorama I finished today and will be taking 
to Kansas City.  I built it in a shadowbox frame. The subject is a pair of 
"clay kickers,"  British army tunnelers somewhere beneath the German trenches in 
1915-16. The  groundwork is made of ordinary household lightweight spackling 
over some  styrofoam.
