[WWI] Aaaaaaaargh!

This bad luck must be going around! Last night I glued the upper wing and struts on my Roden Fokker D.VII and everything measured out level and straight when I superglued the struts in place. Tonight after work, I noticed one of the upper N struts was not attached to the wing. I put a drop of super glue on the strut, pressed down the upper wing, and had the N strut shatter into about 4 pieces! Luckily I have a couple of other Roden D.VII's in my stash, so time to pull out the N struts and hope for better luck tonight.

Don and Mike,
You have given me the opportunity to admit a recent disaster that I glossed
over! While building the Eduard Albatros DIII for IM I was 2 wires away from
finishing when a couple of wires popped loose. I removed them, and
RE-Drilled the locating holes. I was beginning to start the re-attachment
when I heard a snapping sound. The Cabane strut on one side broke due to the
force of the rigging pulling to one side! I got so frustrated As the wing
cellule collapsed that I tore the upper wing off. This was after 3 months on
and off of building! The amazing thing is that I saved the interior, used
another DIII kit, and built another one in less than 1 month :-) There you
have it, the rest of the story, as I figured Matt didn't want another
"disaster while building " article for IM :-)
