Were there ever any UK built Strutters without the Celon covered center section?

When building my 27" Strutter, I made a quick look through the photos in Bob Pearson's article about #3 Wing RNAS as that was the color scheme I was using. I didn't recall seeing any shots of clear center sections, so in the rush to get the model airborne, I doped over the center section. A more detailed look later seems to indicate at least some clear center sections

Since then, radio interference has provided me with an unplanned opportunity to remediate some errors in the original build. (I knew I was in trouble when one of the lower wing panels bounced 3 feet back into the air...) So I was wondering about the clear center section.
