Did that on my Eastbourne. I stained the wood before assembly, did a better
than usual job of assembling it and then started spraying clear varnish. Six
coats and she was starting to glow. I was plumb pleased with myself. One
little area needed anither sprtiz of varnish, so I snatched up the rattle
can of black and let 'er have it.

I was able to sand out 99% of it, but I had the edge of the cockpit sanded
down to about 5 thou. Of course it soon broke and the patch has been looking
at me ever since till the other day when I was removing a battery. I heard
the balsa gods chuckle just before the patch broke :-)
