I've used Dupli-Color sandable gray primer for years. A 12 oz. spray bomb
will set you back about 6 dollars US, and mine has lasted well over 2 years.

Subject: [WWI] Primer Question
In light of my previous question about decanting spray primers
for airbrushing (thanks for all the answers, BTW) is there an
out-of-the-bottle/jar/can primer that can be airbrushed? I'm
getting lazy in my old age and wish to thin paints as little as
possible. Especially enamels, since those make the best primers.
